Books can be more than black text on a series of white pages. How does it change our reading experience if a book has to be unfolded and slowly discovered? If it’s made out of something other than conventional paper? Or if it’s as much a sculpture as a book?

I’ve been part of the Bookness Collective since 2021, working alongside a group of artists who explore fresh ideas of books and ‘bookness’ in their work. We’re next exhibiting at the Notts Book Arts Fair. Entry is free, and there’ll be numerous stalls, plus bookbinding demonstrations by the Society of Bookbinders.
