Poet in Residence, Conference of the Centre for Global Human Movement and the Deutsches Schifffahrtsmuseum.
Poet in Residence at a conference bringing together artists, researchers and students. Participants were from many different nationalities and specialisms, from emergency medicine to tourism.
I created a found poem, taken from words spoken during the day by participants, which reflected the themes under discussion. The poem was read at the close of the event as a summation and celebration.
‘The Iris’: a song for Newnham
Lyrics for a newly-commissioned piece for Newnham College’s 150th Anniversary. I took the theme of the iris, a flower which has represented the college for many years, and wrote four verses exploring the four seasons, and the way that our strengths and values can change as we age. The lyrics were set to music by composer Marcella Keating. As the piece was written during lockdown, we faced various challenges in collaboration: see us in discussion about the experience here.
‘Christine’: modern translations of poems by Christine de Pisan
Translations of 3 poems by Medieval French poet Christine de Pisan, commissioned for a performance by St Radegund’s Voices, a Cambridge choir specialising in early music.
