It looks like the ArtfulScribe Lit Fest 2024 is going to be an amazing event, kicking off on International Women’s Day with a headline event hosted and curated by Joelle Taylor.

Join me on the Sunday morning for a short set telling the remarkable story of poet and refugee Concha Méndez through my translations of her poetry. From the glamourous literary salons of 1920s Madrid, and her love of wild swimming as a form of liberation, to her escape from the Spanish Civil War and movement into exile, Méndez’s poems are works of beauty and moving self-expression.

This is part of the Modern Poetry in Translation event, and I’ll be alongside other translators sharing the poets and poetry they translate.
